Scholarship

I am currently a PhD Candidate in the School for Cultural Analysis at the University of Amsterdam and an associate editor of Screenworks, the peer-reviewed journal of screen media practice research. Since 2023, I have been an adjunct instructor in the Interdepartmental Program in Film Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, teaching the course "Video Editing & Film Montage" (Summer 2023 & Summer 2024).

My research centers on the intersections of American avant-garde cinema, videographic criticism, digital remix culture, fair use, and archival practice. I am especially interested in drawing connections between today's digital content creators on platforms like YouTube and TikTok and experimental film.

I am currently at work on a chapter about the pioneering filmmaker and video artist George Kuchar. Below is one of several short videos I made about Kuchar and his film Weather Diary 1 while participating in Embodying the Video Essay, a workshop held at Bowdoin College in 2023.
